Terms of use

The terms governing use of xcircl.com and the xcircl API, operated by xcircl LLC.

1. Acceptance

By using xcircl.com or the xcircl API (together, the “service”), you agree to these terms. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it, and “you” refers to that organization.

2. The service and tiers

Every API call requires a valid key. The free key returns public identity fields; paid plans return verified compliance signals, pricing, and verification timestamps, and carry a commercial-use licence. Plan limits, rate limits, and current pricing are published on the pricing page; we may throttle or suspend keys that exceed their plan or endanger the service.

3. API keys and acceptable use

API keys are issued to you and may not be shared, published, or transferred. You may not probe, overload, or disrupt the service, circumvent authentication or rate limits, or access the service by automated scraping in place of the documented API.

4. Free tier: evaluation and non-commercial use

Every call requires an API key. The free key is provided for evaluation and non-commercial use — building a prototype, assessing the data, research, and personal projects. Using free-tier data in a production system, in a product or service you sell, or otherwise commercially, requires a paid plan. Free-tier responses return identity fields; compliance signals, price and timestamps are shown as locked placeholders — locked marks a paid field, and is never a statement that a provider has been verified. If you display free-tier data publicly, please attribute it as “Data: xcircl.com”. Free keys are metered; exceeding the monthly quota returns HTTP 429 until it resets.

5. Payment and subscriptions

Paid plans are billed in advance on a subscription basis. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period; we may change prices with notice before your next renewal.

6. No resale of raw data

Paid-tier data is licensed for use within your own products and analyses. You may not resell, redistribute, or publicly re-publish the raw records, or use them to build a competing dataset or directory, without a separate written agreement with xcircl.

7. Data accuracy; provided as is

We work to keep the data accurate and source-linked, but the service and data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Regulatory and third-party-sourced fields carry their source and verification date; verify directly with the source for high-stakes decisions.

8. Not professional advice

The data and site are informational. Nothing in the service is medical, legal, financial, or compliance advice.

9. Intellectual property

The service, site content, and the compilation of the dataset are the property of xcircl LLC. The xcircl Agent is separately licensed as open source under the MIT license in its repository; that license governs the Agent code.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, xcircl LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for decisions or actions taken in reliance on the data. Our total liability arising out of the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, non-payment, or conduct that harms the service or other customers. You may stop using the service at any time; sections that by their nature should survive (including 4, 6, 7, 9, and 10) survive termination.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; changes take effect when posted on this page, with the date below revised. Material changes affecting paid customers are announced by email before they take effect.
